Description

Bengara (nine colors)

Bengara is a safe inorganic pigment composed mainly of ferric oxide.

The combined use with kakishibu will produce waterproof, insect deterrent, and antiseptic effects. Colors include black, red, yellow, beige, dark Bordeaux, brown, vermilion, white (titanium oxide), and dark brown (ancient color).

◎How to apply <Kakishibu + Bengara>

Coating area:

about 20 m2/1.8 L

a) For insecticidal and antiseptic purposes, such as housing foundations:

(1)Mix 1.8 liters of undiluted kakishibu and 500 grams of Bengara.

(2)Since Bengara tends to precipitate as its specific gravity is high, apply with a brush while stirring occasionally.

(3)Dry thoroughly.

b) For cases where you want to leverage the quality of wood and clearly show the wood grain

(1)Mix 1.8 liters of undiluted kakishibu and 200 to 300 grams of Bengara.

(2)Since Bengara tends to precipitate as its specific gravity is high, apply with a brush while stirring occasionally.

(3)If you rub the coating into the surface with a waste cloth before it dries, it will show the wood grain.

(4)If you apply plant oil, Natural Eco Wax, or Wood Coat to the surface after the coat has dried, it will give a water repellent finish to the surface and enhance the strength of the coating film. (*Wood Coat should be used only for interior coating.)

Note:

(1)If you use plant oil, burn the used waste cloth or dispose of it after washing with detergent because a used oily waste cloth can cause a fire.

(2)While the product is not toxic, be careful not to drink or get it into the eyes.

(3)Since turpentine soot is in the form of fine powder, first knead it with some alcohol, such as distilled spirits, and then mix it with kakishibu.

(4)If you mix kakishibu and Bengara (including turpentine soot), be sure to use all the mixture.

◎How to apply <Oil + Bengara>

Coating area:

about 10 to 15 m2/1 liter of plant oil and 200 grams of Bengara

(1)Mix well one liter of plant oil, such as Chinese wood oil, perilla oil, linseed oil, or rapeseed oil (the first squeeze), with 150 to 200 grams of Bengara.

*Bengara can be first kneaded with undiluted kakishibu liquid and then mixed with plant oil.

(2)Use a solid brush when applying.

*Rubbing it into the surface with a waste cloth before the coat dries will create a luxurious finish with a clear wood grain.

Note:

If you use plant oil and wipe it with a waste cloth, keep the used waste cloth in an airtight container or burn it because a used oiled waste cloth can cause a fire.

◎How to apply <Glue + Bengara>

Coating area:

about 10 to 15 m2/300 grams of glue and 700 grams of hot water

(1)Measure the required amount of glue and add some water to moisten it the day before application.

(2)On the day of application, add hot water (60°C to 70°C) to dissolve the glue completely.

(3)Mix the dissolved glue liquid with Bengara, stir well, and apply with a brush.

(4)If you apply plant oil to the surface after the coat has dried, it will further enhance the strength of the coating.

*Use seven parts hot water to three parts glue.

Note:

If you use plant oil, burn the used waste cloth or dispose of it after washing it with detergent as a used oily waste cloth can cause a fire.
